Unit 1
Intercultural E-mail Classroom connections
http://www.iecc.org/
E-friends
http://www.efriends.pnet.pl/
teaching.com
http://www.mightymedia.com/keypals/

New course book, new term why not set up an email exchange with your class? This could become a regular project. Being the first email this should concentrate on introductions and personal information. It'll take some setting up but worth while in the long run.

Multi-map
http://uk2.multimap.com/

Alternatively use this site to pinpoint exactly where the students are from (if they are from different countries) or simply use it to practice the stress of the country names.

Unit 2+3
Personal Information
http://mrshowbiz.go.com/celebrities/
http://celebsites.com/
http://www.lifemag.com/Life/heroes/hall.html

Ask your students to look for an actor/actress/singer/writer they like, find a photograph and look for some basic information e.g. name, occupation, where they are from. Then ask them to give a mini presentation explaining why they like that person.

For Unit 3 Students could be asked to again choose a famous person, the other students have to guess the identity by asking yes/no questions.

Unit 4
The Idiom Site
http://www.idiom.co.uk/list.htm

A list of many of the English language schools in the UK. Why not set your students the task of finding a language school. (In another city if you don’t want to lose business.) They could be encouraged to find out basic information about the school for example how many students in the class, about the town it’s located in. All good practice for the target language.

Unit 5
Brainwarp
http://www.brainwarp.com/
Astrohoroscopes.com
http://www.astrohoroscopes.com
Kidscom.com
http://www.kidscom.com/orakc/Games

These are just some examples of where to find Spot the Difference pictures. Lots of opportunity to practice have got and prepositions of place.

Unit 6
Mitchie.net
http://www.michie.net/famindex.html

Photographs of people’s families. On any of the Search engines type in: family+photograph and there are bound to be lots of examples and if you’re lucky a family tree, which would be ideal for your students to practise the possessive ‘s’ and the names of members of the family.

Unit 7
World time server
http://www.worldtimeserver.com/

This is a site that will tell you exactly what time it is in any part of the world. You could use this site to have a race in the class. Prepare some obscure place names and ask them to find the time in each. They should shout out the answer as soon as they find it and it should only be accepted if it both correct and said in its full form.

Unit 8
Homes for today

http://www.homes4today.com/
Pan-Asian American community house
http://dolphin.upenn.edu/~paach/construction.html
House layout
http://www.conceptdraw.com

Layouts of various buildings. This could be used by students to describe the position of rooms and to suggest the best places for furniture.

Unit 9
Life’s 4 Living

http://www.lifes4living.co.uk

Very sedate site targeted for the older generation. Features news lottery, results and ideas for leisure time. Some good examples that some nationalities may find bizarre e.g. stamp-collecting, bowls. Ask your students to look through the hobbies and get them to rate them for relaxation and which they’d prefer to do and why.

Unit 10
Amazon.co.uk
www.amazon.co.uk
Books on line
http://www.uk.bol.com/

Go to the music section and get students to make a note of as many different styles of music as they can find. (This could be done as a race.) Then ask them to find their favourite style of music and even to try to get a piece of their music which they can play to the rest of their group and say why it is they enjoy it.
