| Unit 1 Executive planet http://www.executiveplanet.com/community/ This extensive site offers etiquette advice for business travellers. Students could be asked to brainstorm and research the customs of their own countries and to think about what foreign visitors may find confusing when visiting. Unit
See how they live. Ask your students to skim through a couple of the articles to see what information they can find about their lifestyles. Unit
Use this site as a basis for a discussion on what constitutes a home. Allow your students free reign for around ten minutes and ask them to find their ideal house. Once the time limit is up they should show their favourite house to their partner, giving some basic details about the property and what it is particularly about that house that they like. Unit
Use these sites to compare cities. Ask students to look up two cities, maybe their capital city and an equivalent British city (e.g. Marseille and Manchester). Ask them to make notes on the main points of each place and then to make a list of similarities and differences. Unit
Gallery of the French photographer, Robert Doisneaus work. Ask students to choose their favourite photograph and get them to prepare a mini presentation during which they should describe the photo and explain what it is they like. Alternatively they can search for another photographer or painter they like. Unit
Thomas Cook today. Why not role-play travel agent/customer? Ask the customer to think where they would like to go, how, when and for how long then get them to ask the travel agent for the answer to these questions. Unit
Get your students to look at the very short fiction to find some examples they like, then to get together in groups and try to explain their stories, imagining what happened before and what is likely to happen next. Unit
The British Monarchy. This is the perfect place to practice what relationship people have with each other. Why not use the family tree to describe the relationships and then ask students to draw their own. Unit
Use this site to do a bit of research in order to give a short presentation about your city. Alternatively you could research the city where you are studying or where you would like to study or simply a city you want to visit. |
